For those of you walking around CV1 this week, be prepared to have a pair of birds flying overhead making a racket.
There are a pair of Black-necked stilts with one, maybe two, chicks in the neighborhood and all this noise and flying over you is to distract you away from their chicks until they are big enough to head over to the detention pond across the road. This is common with this species and even the smaller Kildeer we see in the playground area some years. These birds will not harm anyone, they are just very loud and determined to make you pay attention to them so you will not see the chicks. This pair has had chicks here in CV1 in various backyards 4 of the past 6 years. They are a common species but a bit rare so far from shore although they have chosen to use CV1 and the detention pond every spring and summer. |

That is very cool.
We have several pairs of doves use our home annually for nesting. _________________ Rob Nunez |

The detention pond at Stella Roberts and behind CV1 is a hotspot for migratory birds from December -April/May with everything from Bald Eagle, Pelican, Osprey, Spoonbills and a dozen+ other bird species coming through. |
